Historical Dubai

Dubai is the exemplary home of sun, sand and festivals. A hundred years ago, Dubai was a town full of peace where Pearl divers and Bedouin traders wedged in coral-and-gypsum houses, or little huts. At present scenario, the merchants have reached beyond the horizons. Skyscrapers of the future stand alongside the wind towers and the mosques. Dubai is one of those towns in the world that boasts about enormous development at a velocity that is beyond imagination and that might not have been as rapid, as anywhere else in the world.
If we explore into the ancient history of this, the findings of the archaeologists recommend that human beings have been living here since as long as 3000 BC. With the help of the excavations at Jumeirah, which happens to be at the south of Dubai, a 6th century caravan station was recently discovered, which hence proved that the population of the area had kept routes for trades alive during this complete period. At the same time, a Persian Dynasty Sassanids, who had colonized the mouth of Dubai Creek from 224 AD, were sailed out by the Umayyads, who inhabited and brought Islam with them.

Known for splendid glamour, dazzling glitz and bling-bling, Dubai is not totally deprived of archaeology and history. It is rather engrossed in the olden times, deviously cooing the wisdom of the past days. There are several places and sites to visit and mollify your hunt to know more about the history of Gulf and archaeology of Dubai, which initiated as a small fishing village.

There are some very interesting places and museums where one can dig into Dubai’s past:
